More fun!

Wow, I am really on a roll around here.  I am super happy with the 2009 calendar, and I am loving the holiday cards I just finished, and now this!  Gift tags!!  I love fun gift tags, and frankly I have a hard time finding something that is not a non-generic-sticker kind or a “frou-frou” kind.  I want something simple, fun and unique - and I think that’s what I came up with.

I think it holds true that when you make something you would use, you would buy, that it comes out better than expected. I know that sounds silly, but it’s very easy to get caught up in what I “should” be making or doing, rather than just doing.

And to continue on my “on a roll” attitude, I have a few more fun things up my sleeve!  Yippee. Stay tuned people. :)

Anyway, gift tags are up at my etsy shop: buzzloves.etsy.com.  Go take a look!  A sneak peek:

I heard my first Christmas song today.

While I’ve heard some Christmas jingles lately, I heard my first full-on Christmas song today.  I try not to think or worry or even begin Christmas planning until after Thanksgiving — to give my favorite mashed-potatoe-induced holiday it’s proper honor.  But, I also recognize that some people are way more organized than I and start thinking about Holiday cards in August. I know.  So here they are — HOLIDAY CARDS 08!

Holiday Cards

Holiday Cards

I am really happy with how they’ve turned out.  I still have a few more I’m working on, including some fun personalized cards — since who doesn’t like to see their name in lights?  So stay tuned.  In the meantime, check out buzzloves.etsy.com and try to stay away from the eggnog until at least December 1st.

Redesign!

As you can probably tell, I’ve been tinkering around with the design here at buzzloves.com. Woot!  Fun fun.  It’s not perfect quite yet, but I am happy with the new direction.

I also just finished and loaded my new CALENDAR!  I finally got all the pieces together - and printed on my super fancy new printer, and I am very happy with how they turned out. They’re fun, simple and a great addition to any desk.  Unfortunately the weather here is incredibly dreary and rainy today, so my photos didn’t turn out the best, but I will hopefully add a few more later on in the week when we get more sunshine. So go get one! Go!  Shoo!  Seriously, I’ll be here when you get back.

Anyway, it’s been one year since I launched this wonderful business, and I am very happy.  It has taught me so much about what I can accomplish, and even though things aren’t as perfect as I want them to be, I am still moving forward, still doing things. At the end of the day, I am proud I’ve even gotten this much done. It’s much, much harder than I ever anticipated.  After an 8-10 hour day in front of the computer at my “regular” job, it’s incredibly difficult to forego relaxing and go back to the computer for a few more hours. But I’ve done what I could and am learning to accept that things won’t always be “perfect”, but they are pretty darn nice as they are.

I have so so so much I want to accomplish in the next year - my mind is swimming in ideas and projects and fun things I want to do for buzzloves.com.  I just want to take a quick second to thank everyone who has supported me over the past year - you all rock!

Whooooooooosh.

When did it become the end of October?  I am still back in August…  Halloween! Thanksgiving!  Christmas!  New Years!  Whooooooosh.  That is the sound of time flying by.

I am working hard on new 2009 calendars - I am really pumped about how they are looking so far and hope everyone enjoys them.  Other things in the works include a site redesign (whoo hoo!), holiday card fun AND a new printer.  I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the printer sometime next week.  Right now its in Philly - which is strange since it started in New Jersey, then went to Louisville, and now is back east in Philly.  Sometimes I wonder if UPS just makes up the tracking to make up for the time waiting for packages.

So hopefully everyone is enjoying the weekend, relaxing and trying not to let too much time fly by without enjoying it!

On being nice

I think being nice can go a long way.  Apparently/thankfully, I am not the only one. I stumbled across Operation Nice this morning, and it was just the boost I needed. A whole site dedicated to nothing but just being nice, showing common courtesy to others.  What a concept.  I need to figure out how to get my “nice badge” in my sidebar, but for now, I will proudly display, I AM NICE! :)

good deed//good envelope

this site is very cool! using recycled paper to create a unique, fun product. and, the recycling earns them an ‘A’ in my book, but they also donate their proceeds to non-profits! A++!

from their site:
“The Good Envelope Party is a bi-monthly women’s collective in Silver Lake, California. We make handmade recycled stationery from salvaged books and magazines, with love, for the good of others and the earth. These unique envelopes and recycled card inserts are voluntarily made for the purpose of donating their profits. Proceeds are directly donated to non-profit organizations, underfunded schools, and local families struggling to fulfill their basic needs.”

welcome back!

to…me, I guess? It’s been too long to come up with any sort of explanation, but a ton has changed since June! Moving, new job(s), craziness. I find myself having a hard time explaining or condensing all that is going on into a cohesive blog post, so I end up with nothing. Seems to be a general theme - ever feel like there are so many options, you can’t choose just one? Or so many things to do, you end up not doing any of them? Totally me. Anyway, I’m working on getting through a few things at a time; baby steps, if you will. What about Bob, anyone? Love that movie.

Anyway, a sneak peek! I recently acquired some screen-printing things, and am totally pumped about the possibilities. I’m excited to try this out on new things, make up some new holiday cards, calendars… more fun on the way!

sneak peek!

Also, ONE YEAR anniversary of this site is coming up on November 1! I have a few tricks up my sleeve, so stay tuned. It’s nice to be back. :)

Bacon?

As some of you may know, my dear friend KJ runs the wildly popular blog FullOfSnark.com — and she has a penchant for bacon. A bacon folder, more specifically. I can’t really do the story justice like she can, so just go, read.

And, vote on your favorite bacon t-shirt! I helped her design some bacon-y goodness t-shirts and if you’re lucky, she’ll put them up for sale soon and you can own your very own. :)

While you’re over there, don’t forget to check out her hilarious musings and see how you can vote for her blog in the “bloggers choice awards”!

Life is too short…

Life is too short…

to do something you don’t love
to sweat the small stuff
to deny good things in your life
to not trust yourself
to not realize that life is a series of moments — however cliché and fleeting — and each moment, whether good or bad, is just that.  A moment. And when it’s good, you better learn to enjoy it. And when it’s not so great, know that it’s just a moment and a different one is right around the corner.

(excuse my horrendous lack of correct grammar/punctuation. it’s late)
